Hi Darryl:
In short, the Memorial Celebration is not to be observed any longer by servants of Jehovah. The reason this is so is described for us in
1 Corinthians 11:26 which says:
"For as often as you eat this loaf and drink this cup, you keep proclaiming the death of the Lord, until he arrives."
You notice above, first century christians were to observe the memorial celebration, as they keep "proclaiming the death of the Lord [Jesus],
UNTIL HE ARRIVES."
Shocking as it may seem to most Jehovah's witnesses, Divine Truth today reveals, Jesus actually "arrived" in 70 c.e., when he carried out His Father's will in destroying Jerusalem, and resurrected first century christians to heavenly life and glory. This point is highlighted in the parable of the "minas" that Jesus taught. Namely, after 70 c.e., just as Jesus promised, the unfaithful members of the first century congregation (the "wicked" sluggish slave) were "abandoned" to their own devices, after the city of Jerusalem was destroyed. (More detail information shown in YORWW Manuscript #1003 covering Jesus And Minas Parable.) This explains why such blasphemous doctrines such as trinity and hellfire was able to get its horrendous start among so-called "christians" AFTER 70 c.e. -- Matt. 24:40, 41; Luke 19:11-27; 1 Thess. 1:6-8
(For more details see article entitled:
The Second "Parousia" Of Jesus -- Re-Examined.)
Therefore the
YORWW Congregation does not observe the Memorial Celebration itself, as they recognize the following: if Jesus actually "arrived" in 70 c.e., and has resurrected all faithful first century christians to heavenly life at the time Jerusalem was destroyed, then the contents of
1 Corinthians 11:26 has been completely fulfilled when Jesus "ARRIVED" in 70 c.e., which of course, would make it completely unnecessary for servants of Jehovah to observe the Memorial Celebration any longer.
Hope this helps...
